Trip Tips

Car parking is at a premium in Paihia. Due to the length of our trip you will only be able to avoid a parking ticket if you park in the pay’n’display carpark in Williams Rd or park for free in Te Ti Bay. During the high season the wardens are extremely vigilant and with most carparks in the area having a maximum parking time ranging between 30 mins and 240 mins they have no trouble exceeding any quotas they may (or may not) have been set. At this time of the year you may get away with it but I don't think it's worth the risk.

I have marked on the map the only area where y
ou can have unlimited free parking. If you park by the Kids Playground in Te Ti Bay you will have a short 6 minute walk to the wharf and no ticket worries.

Our departure point is Pier D. Our normal Departure time from the Paihia Wharf is 9:00am and returning aprox 2:30pm. Please aim to be there 10 minutes before departure. To find us, go down the wharf and take the last ramp on the right. We share this pier with the Russell ferries and Fullers so if we are not already there don't panic, we're just waiting for one of the boats (usually Fullers) to leave. If you are running late, please call me on 021 549416 to avoid being left behind.

We supply all the rods and bait but if you have a favourite that you like to use then you are welcome to bring it with you.

While the Arline has a pretty good mix of shelter and open spaces it is always advisable to bring any protective creams that you require to guard against wind and sun. It also pays to bring a warm jacket even during the summer.

Please also feel free to bring anything you wish to eat and drink.

If you suffer from sea sickness ask me what everyone in Paihia uses. It is an unlicensed but highly effective sea sick pill that the local chemist sends all over the country and around the world. Unfortunately because it is unlicensed it can not be advertised.  I use it on rough trips and so do many of my clients. Quite simply, it's so good it's magic.

There is a new cafe on the end of the wharf called the Subfresh Cafe. This cafe sells Subs (rolls about 10" long), Wraps, Salads and ice creams. You choose the ingredients from a reasonably large selection and get it made on the spot. The owner is experimenting with different options all the time so there is likely to be other choices on offer. You can also get cold drinks, water, tea and coffee there. Check it out as the prices appear to be pretty good and the food these guys make is a good healthy option. Let them know that the Arline sent you so that we can tell if this free plug is working or not.

If you have any other questions please give me a call or drop me an email and I'll attempt to answer them for you.

Otherwise, I'll see you on the day.
