The season has been slow in starting this year but we are still managing to get some reasonable fish.
January - Continual South Westerly winds gave us fine calm conditions but the downside was the water stayed below the magical 18 degrees Celsius that the Snapper need to spawn. Although we scored the odd big Snapper, the fishing that normally happens in Nov-Dec didn't happen in January either. See the photos here and the videos here
February - The winds have changed to the East at long last. The water has warmed up but there are still a number of Snapper that don't appear to have spawned (even at the end of Feb.) The Kahawai are also starting to appear and by the end of February we're catching very big sea going Kahawai as well as some reasonable Snapper. See the photos here and the videos here
March - Lots of snapper around 2-3lbs but nothing really spectacular . The best of the months fish was probably the 22nd March. See the photos here and the videos here
April - Kahawai, Kahawai, Kahawai, Sea Snake, Snapper. Yes, we did catch another Sea Snake (got a wee video of it too). See the photos here and the videos here
May - Snapper and John Dory were the flavour of this month. Didn't get out a lot this month but the fish were okay. See the photos here and the videos here
June - We only got in one trip before it was time to come out for our yearly maintenance. The planned changes are major - new canopy, complete rewiring and a complete stripping of the anti-foul. Lots of photos, see the changes as they happen. See the photos here and the videos here
July - The changes continue. The boat is looking great and although the bills are starting to mount, I am not regretting a penny spent. See the photos here and the videos here
August - The last of the maintenance, our first holiday in a decade and controversy as I get ripped off by a tradesman. See the photos here and the videos here
September - Back in the water and we get the chance to test out all the new gear. The fishing was pretty good and we were catching a good variety of fish. See the photos here and the videos here
October - This was the month of the Terakihi until the last week when we started to get some decent Snapper. See the photos here and the videos here
November - The weather has started to get warmer, the water is slowly getting warmer and the big School Fish are starting to make an appearance. See the photos here and the videos here
