Usually sometime in early November the snapper population takes a sudden and dramatic leap in both size and numbers.
Literally overnight, we find we are catching snapper like these monsters shown on the left and below. The males or Jacks turn up first and a couple of weeks later the females.
Once the water temperature reaches 18 degrees Celsius they start their spawning cycle and then slowly leave the bay. This can take a couple of months so the season for catching these fantastic fish is very short.
It's fun, it's tiring and it's not to be missed. So get a group together now and reserve your trip asap. It's a huge buzz that can last a year.
