Bay of Islands Fishing Report

1st January -
What a beautiful way to celebrate the new year.

Adrian with the biggest snapper of the day (4.2kgs)

From memory Adrian didn't catch a lot of fish but he was obviously going after quality as this fish demonstrates.

Our Next Trip was....

3rd January - The forecast was for 15 knot Northerlies
turning to 20-30 knots South Westerly winds
at the end of the day....

2nd January -
Another very nice day apart from a bit of a worry about the wind. It was forecast to rise from 15 to 20 knots as the day progressed so we were a bit concerned that we wouldn't be able to get to the same spot as yesterday as it was tending Northerly. As it turned out the wind was fine, the sky was blue, the company good and fish were biting. We started out keeping fish over 30cm, then fish over 34cm and when the bigger fish turned up we were getting really fussy. One John Dory, a Terakihi and the rest were Snapper - the biggest of which was caught by Adrian weighing in at 4.3kgs. A pretty good day overall and my skipper was happy as there was enough fish for him too.
