24th January -
For the very first time we had picked up passengers from one of the visiting cruise ships so we were hoping to impress. What had started as an enquiry from a family visiting the Bay of Islands on the "Rhapsody of the Sea" gradually grew into numerous bookings from other passengers. Many thanks to the Charltons and Arnie Slater for their efforts to get more people along. The weather was perfect and we did manage to see some dolphins but once again the fish were conspicuous by their absence. We were able to drift over several different spots in the attempt to find something exciting to catch. Ever hopeful of the return of the Kahawai and associated Snapper, it soon became obvious that it was not going to happen. There was enough fish coming on board to make it interesting but the day could have been better...a lot better.
