21st January - Another very ordinary day. We headed out into deeper water to try and locate our missing snapper. The theory was, that if we couldn't find them here we would at least have a chance at catching Pink Mao Mao, Golden Snapper or maybe even Kahawai. It took almost an hour and a half to get to this particular reef. Immediately upon dropping the anchor we started getting bites but the snapper we pulled up were small. It was very quiet all day with the odd big hit but they kept on getting off the hook half way to the surface. In the end we had a few Golden Snapper, a small selection of ordinary Snapper up to 32cm and that was it. Finally just before the end of the trip we got the fish below that fed the whole boat.
Peter Kwok had a couple of really good fish on his line today but they kept getting off about halfway to the surface. So he was under pressure to get this last fish to the surface. It put up a good fight but the winner was Peter. The fillets off this beastie feed everyone on board today. Thanks Peter.
