19th January -
Gusty South Westerlies were forecast so we kept the group small. The further out we got the worse the wind was, so we picked an area near the Nine Pin that was sheltered. Unfortunately the fish were very small so when the wind dropped we headed out to the middle of the bay. Our search for reasonable fish took us right around the Nine Pin but we had very little success. This wind appeared to have sent the big fish out into deeper water. Running out of time we decided that we would try around the Black Rocks and the Brampton Reef to see if we could find some Kahawai but all to no avail. While our results at the end of the day weren't the worst we'd had, it still wasn't good. It was of no surprise to see that our competiton had done even worse than us, it was a hard day for fishing.

19th January - The Nine Pin
19th January - The Nine Pin again

The fishing was so bad that I thought I would include a couple of photos of the Nine Pin. Note all the gannet poo, this colony has a fantastic view of the entire Bay of Islands without even having to leave their nests.
